In light of the new National Rules for electrical installation ET 101 (amendment 2.2) effective from 5th September 2017, Schneider Electric has identified an opportunity to create a new consumer unit for the Irish market that is both safe and stylish.
The most significant change in the standards is the move to a full sized and insulated earth conductor. New installations have increasing volumes of cable and extensive control equipment in the consumer unit, making it difficult for electricians to accommodate and terminate existing wiring. This capacity issue leads to longer installation times and increased costs for the installer. However, Resi9 with a Din rail height of 45mm has up to 40 per cent more cable space than its competitors and makes it easy to install and maintain.
The fact that consumer units and wiring systems are fitted into varying environments means that having the correct product type and system in place has become more important than ever. Whilst keeping costs low is always front of mind for contractors, it should never be the sole dictator when it comes to choosing the product or type of system to be installed. It is essential that thorough consideration is given to safety and functionality. As part of this, it is crucial that contractors have access to fully compliant products with the necessary superior safety credentials, whilst also improving the installation experience and cost efficiency. The Resi9 series is available in 13 and 18 modules per row, and from 1 to 4 rows (versions 13, 26, 39, 52 modules and versions 18, 36, 54 and 72 modules).
Easier, quicker and safer
Resi9 is a state-of-the art consumer unit that combines ease of installation, a stylish new design, and all the flexibility that comes with a customised distribution panel. Resi9 consumer units have been designed full of smart features with the installer at front of mind. In order to achieve this, Schneider Electric carried out multiple focus groups with electricians to research their requirements and the challenges they face today. Cabling space has been significantly improved in light of this customer feedback. Resi9 has Din rails that can be easily clipped on and unclipped for more efficient cable routing. The additional cabling space under the Din rails ensures a trouble-free and flexible install for all applications. To ensure that every installation is finished neatly, and is easily identifiable for the end user, improved labelling kits with clear pictograms and supporting text are included.
Make it personal
Due to the increasing visibility of consumer units within living spaces, the Resi9 range does not compromise on design.
Designed with innovation in mind, Resi9 distribution boards feature elegant materials, are ergonomic and come in a perfect finish, purposely designed to match any home setting. The customers can choose from several designs and personalise the look of their distribution board. Project a wooden or modern art finish, a practical magnetic surface or add a transparent design that can be personalised and enhanced with prints or children’s drawings. The possibilities are endless, so Resi9 can adapt to all tastes, matching any home décor.
The sleek modern aesthetics have not come at the expense of functionality or safety, with the range offering high levels of residential circuit protection safety and peace of mind to the consumer. Enclosures are manufactured from high grade materials and are highly robust, with magnetic hinges for a better closing system. These good looks haven’t gone unnoticed, in 2016 Resi9 was awarded a reddot design award.
