ELECTRIC.IE • The Magazine & Website for the Irish Electrical Industry • 61 Industry News Gearing Up for a Great Cause - Dash of the Derg 2025 * September 5th 2025 The Irish Electrical Cycling Club (IECC), in partnership with headline sponsor Ei Electronics, is proud to announce the return of the Dash of the Derg charity cycling event for 2025. Set against the stunning backdrop of Lough Derg, this event is fast becoming a highlight on the calendar for those in the electrical industry who are passionate about cycling. Two Routes This year’s Dash of the Derg offers two routes designed to appeal to cyclists of varying abilities. The original 116km circuit around the scenic Lough Derg returns, providing a challenging yet rewarding route for experienced riders. New for 2025 is a 60km option, featuring the newly opened bridge across Lough Derg and merging with the final leg of the full route. Both courses begin and end at Flanagan’s on the Lake, a favourite gathering point for participants and supporters alike. Backing from Across the Industry Once again, Ei Electronics leads the way as the main event sponsor, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to both community and industry. The event also enjoys widespread support from Gold and Silver sponsors across the electrical sector, whose contributions are vital in making this initiative a success. The 2024 event saw impressive engagement from industry leaders, and the IECC is calling on the electrical community to match—or exceed—that support in 2025. With your help, the Dash of the Derg can continue to grow in both participation and impact. Driven by Passionate Organisers The IECC, the newly established group behind the event, comprises dedicated professionals from across the electrical industry. Among the organisers are Stephen McManus (Lidacel), Michael Bissett (Hager), Diarmuid McStay (REW), Andrew Clifford (JV Tierney), and Dan Fisher (National Electrical Wholesalers Ltd & IEBA). Their shared passion for cycling and charitable giving is the driving force behind this inspiring initiative. Join the Movement Whether you're cycling, sponsoring, or supporting from the sidelines, the 2025 Dash of the Derg offers a unique opportunity to connect with colleagues, challenge yourself, and contribute to a meaningful cause. With strong industry backing and a beautiful setting, this year’s event promises to be the best yet. The Ei Electronics team at last year's event.
