A man who was kind and generous, meticulous in his work and a true gentleman. Shortly after his quali cation as an electrician with the well-known contractors, Fryers of Ballsbridge, John founded Mulvaney and Flanagan with his long-term partner Seamus Mulvaney. The business was very focussed and highly successful as specialists for lighting and power installation in the exhibition industry. The company was regularly appointed as sole contractor for exhibitions in the RDS and many other installations throughout Europe and even Iran and Iraq and Libya in the early years. In his leisure time John was a founder member, and eventually, very successful member of the Dublin Region Electrical Golf Society. He was also a regular with the EIGSI golf society. He was a loving grandfather who took on the role with gusto and was adored back in return. John died peacefully at home with his family and will be very sadly missed by his loving wife, Emily, and his children John, Sharon and Andrea. He will be also missed by sister Marie, grandchildren, sons/daughter in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and his many friends in electrical industry and gol ng fraternity. John’s cremation in Mount Jerome was concluded by a rousing record of ‘Tuttie Fruiti’ by Little Richard. Only John could have thought of that! God bless you John. You will be sadly missed by friends and colleagues. K.
