Public consultation period: From 11th June 2021 until 13th August 2021, inclusive. Scope: This S.R. provides guidelines for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of solar PV systems with outputs that are connected to and operate in parallel with the Low Voltage (LV) Network. This S.R. applies to single phase microgeneration as de ned by the network operator in both new and existing dwellings. This S.R. applies to solar PV systems which use crystalline silicon or thin lm standard PV modules only. It does not apply to design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of solar PV modules Industry News or PV cells which form part of a building envelope including PV tiles, PV slates, PV modules or PV cells which are ground mounted, wall mounted or form part of the roo ng or cladding of the dwelling commonly known as BIPV (built in PV) systems. Contents: The draft contains the following: • Section 1 Scope • Section 2 Normative references • Section 3 Terms and de nitions • Section 4 Symbols and abbreviations • Section 5 General • Section 6 Design • Section 7 Installation • Section 8 Commissioning • Section 9 Handover • Section 10 Maintenance • Annex A – Example schematics (informative) • Annex B – Sample load calculations for solar PV modules (informative) • Annex C – Sample labels for solar PV system (informative) Drafting committee: NSAI/TC 031/SC 07 "Solar panels" is responsible for the drafting of S.R. 55. How to have your say: All interested parties are invited to comment on the draft S.R. 55 through the NSAI “Your Standards Your Say” (YSYS) forum. The link is below https://www.nsainep.ie/Home/Details/21280 NSAI Committee seeks experts in RCD & AFDD technologies The NSAI/ETC/RCD-TF committee actively pursues & monitors technical matters relating to current & upcoming National & International Standards relating to RCD (Residual Current Device) & AFDD (arc fault detection) technologies. Representing Ireland on the various relevant International Technical Committees & their Working Groups within IEC & CENELEC, members actively attend relevant meetings to review proposals for new International Standards or proposed changes to current International Standards in the above areas, & advise NSAI on the exercising of Ireland’s national voting rights within these bodies in accordance with agreed protocols. The committee welcomes & invites applications from technical experts from within relevant Irish industries to participate on the RCD-TF committee. To apply for membership, please submit your query to Mrs Amanda-Jane Gainford, secretary, at Amanda-Jane.Gainford@nsai.ie citing relevant experience within the RCD or AFDD industries.
