The Contactron Speed Starter from Phoenix Contact is the new device class that bridges the gap between motor starters and frequency converters with easy operation. The operator interface consists of a rotary switch and three buttons with a display, so all settings can be made intuitively. This compact and cost-effective solution provides all of the functions necessary for different speeds. These include normal speed, creeping speed, soft start, energy ef ciency and ramp functions, and even safe stopping with the Safe Torque Off function. Space-saving power supplies T he new devices are space- saving and alignable without minimum clearances to neighboring modules, and are therefore ideal for compact control boxes. Available in the power classes 120 W, 240 W, and 480 W. They feature a power density of 500 W/dm and offer easy system diagnostics with the oating switch contact and “DC OK” LED. With an ef ciency of up to 94.6%, the power supplies are also extremely energy-ef cient. The output voltage, adjustable from 24 V DC to 28 V DC, ensures high exibility. The temperature range of -25°C to +70°C is wide, meaning that outdoor installations are also possible.
