Following a successful event in 2022, golfers were eager to return this year and make it bigger event. Luck was on their side with the best weather day in 7 weeks and the K Club buzzing with excitement as the Horizon Irish Open taking place just two weeks after the Schneider Electric outing. The golfers set out on the fairways for a shotgun start on the North Palmer Course. The course was set up tougher than normal with narrower fairways and the extra rough in preparation for the Horizon Irish Open. The players stepped up to the challenge and there were some great team scores on the day, while taking in all that the K- Club had to offer, Some team quotes included the following:- “One of the best customer days I have been at in years, from start to finish” “The best weather conditions in weeks, a superb course, and a fantastic atmosphere at the prizegiving dinner. Massive thank you to all at Schneider for a great day out”. On the 3rd hole, Schneider Electric invited players to take part in Charity Beat the Pro Competition. Players were invited to make a donation to support the IEBA and have an opportunity to beat the course pro, Gary Murphy. The Irish Electrical Benevolent Association (IEBA) acts as a network within our industry offering practical help and support to people who suffer changed circumstances, be it from illness or other factors. The association has and continues to make a real difference in the lives of electrical industry employees and their families. Through the extremely generous donations of the golfers, €960 was raised on the day and Schneider Electric matched the donations and rounded up the amount to a total donation of €2,000 for the IEBA. Congratulations to all 8 players who beat the pro and to Anthony Moore and Derek Murphy for winning prizes in the draw at the end. Following a solid day of golfing, players were invited to stay and enjoy dinner and prize giving in the Arnold Palmer room in the K Club. The whole occasion was a huge success. Speaking at the prize giving, Mark Keogh, Sales Director at Schneider Electric said “It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves on the course on such a fantastic day and on one of the best courses in the country. He brings over twenty years’ experience in the electrical industry, during which time he has founded several successful and award-winning businesses. His interest in electric vehicles led to the establishment of Darkin EV, which specialised in EV charging solutions for the electric vehicle industry. The company was acquired by an international organisation in 2021. Prior to joining Schneider Electric, Darren was CEO for Darkin EV and the new organisation’s eMobility division.
