OCA Global Group is a privately-owned international business and specialises in the inspection, certification, testing, consulting for its clients with a team of more than 4,000 people across 90 offices in over 60 countries. OCA Global Group opened its new HQ in Sant Cugat del Vallès near Barcelona in a 4,800 sqm new futuristic building with energy saving and sustainability in mind. Light plays a prominent role in this transparent building and B.E.G. was commissioned with the lighting and shading of the building with the manufacturer’s innovative DALI-SYS installed as an intelligent ‘green’ solution for comprehensive lighting control. The DALI-SYS combines lighting management, emergency luminaire management and blind control in one single platform providing this modern building with flexibility, safety, comfort and energy efficiency. Paul Jones, Sales Director of UK & Ireland at B.E.G. UK Ltd, said: “The B.E.G. multi-sensors used detect movements, existing ambient light and react according to the time of day. In this way, it is possible to programme and plan lighting scenes for each area or a combination of areas, facilitating group control. Illuminance levels, blind positions and much more can be changed quickly. “The orientation light function helps to dim the lighting after the defined switch-off time has elapsed. This can be limited to a certain time or be permanently active if no movement is detected and the set light value is not exceeded. B.E.G. is proud to have installed our DALI-SYS for OCA Global Group as it has provided the building with a decentralised control system with distributed intelligence that ensures a high level of operational reliability. “Since the detectors are addressable, the multi-sensors can be set up as master and slave. The multi-sensors have no power supply unit and are supplied with power via the DALI bus. “The ‘guided light’ function has been implemented at OCA Global Group to synchronise the motion detection of several groups, especially in stairwells where no occupancy detectors are installed. This increases the energy efficiency of the building, and at the same time the employees benefit from the high comfort of the building automation.” B.E.G. installed its PD4 detectors in the new building which are available as switching detectors for KNX, BMS DALI-2, DALISYS, DALI-LINK and Casambi.
