Meath, signaling a major expansion of its off-site construction capabilities. The 4,000sqm purpose-built workshop is designed to streamline the production of complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) modules. By moving highintensity fabrication away from the unpredictable environment of a traditional construction site and into a controlled factory setting, the company aims to deliver unprecedented levels of "speed, certainty, and sustainability" for its global client base. Scaling for High-Growth Sectors While Designer Group has been a proponent of modular solutions for several years, this investment allows for a massive scaling of operations. The facility will primarily serve three of the most demanding sectors in the current market: • Data Centres: Where rapid deployment and "plug-andplay" power modules are critical. • Energy: Focusing on complex infrastructure and sustainable power solutions. • Pharmaceuticals: Where highspec, ultra-clean environments require precision engineering. Components fabricated in the Meath workshop won't just stay local; they are destined for Tier 1 projects across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe, proving that Irish-made modular engineering remains a key export in the construction tech space. Economic Impact and Local Employment The move is a significant win for the midlands-northwest region. Designer Group has confirmed that the expansion will support the creation of 75 new jobs over the next five years. These roles span the full spectrum of the trade, including: • Engineering and Design • Advanced Fabrication • Logistics and Supply Chain Management • Apprenticeship and Management pathways Paul Nicholls, Group Managing Director, emphasised that the facility is a response to a fundamental shift in the industry. "Our new facility enables us to deliver high-quality, prefabricated modules off-site, driving greater efficiency, cost certainty, and reduced risk for our clients," Nicholls stated. He added that the investment also reinforces the company’s local footprint, providing long-term, skilled employment and apprenticeship opportunities in Co. Meath. As the industry moves toward "Construction 4.0," Designer Group’s €10 million bet on Meath suggests that the future of largescale electrical engineering is increasingly modular. The 4,000sqm Kells workshop marks a significant scale-up in modular manufacturing capacity for the Data Centre, Energy, and Pharma sectors.
