AEW partnered with the EDA (Electrical Distributors’ Association UK) to conduct a series of training programs in a wide range of electrical products and services. The attendance at the Awards presentation was a good indication of the interest and support of this initiative with Irish electrical wholesalers. Support by the EIFI (Electrical Industries Federation of Ireland) training bursary for participating students was much appreciated and critical to the overall success of the project. Des Cahill, RTE sports presenter, kept a light mood throughout the proceedings. Awards were presented by Tracy Hewitt of EDA. Leo Donovan of Weee Ireland was on hand to present the awards in the Weee recycling. Also in attendance was Cel O’Reilly who thanked wholesalers for their support and updated them on IEBA activity. EIFi President Gay Byrne was in ‒AEW (Association of Electrical Wholesalers) congratulate graduating students of their training program at a highly successful lunch event in Dublin. Several awards were also presented to recognise the achievements of wholesalers in the WEEE recycling initiative. attendance to present an award of ‘Special Recognition’ to Gerry Kelly, (Phibsboro Electrical), a founder member of Fegime Ireland, in recognition of his work in the industry and particularly his support of AEW in the 1990s. There are six member groups within AEW; CEF, EWL Electric, Fegime Ireland, IEBG, Kellihers and the ‘Independents’. All six members groups received two staff training awards and two WEEE Recycling Awards, a ‘Best Performing Branch, and a ‘Most Improved Branch. Ken Legros, admin sec of AEW concludes “As this was an inaugural event for AEW it was important to do it properly and create a professional impression from the start.
