Printed by W&G Baird The Irish electrical sector is navigating a period of notable transition, with firms across the supply chain actively repositioning to align with emerging opportunities. Momentum continues to build around renewable energy, battery storage and solar deployment, while renewed activity in residential construction is beginning to filter through to the trade. In parallel, the rapid expansion of data centres has emerged as a major driver of demand, creating significant opportunities for contractors and suppliers alike. At the same time, the ongoing modernisation of Ireland’s electrical infrastructure is creating a further stream of work that is set to support industry growth in the medium term. The Association of Electrical Contractors of Ireland has marked the retirement of long-serving figure Chris Lundy, with Gearoid McKenna stepping into the role of Executive Secretary. The industry events calendar remains busy. The IEBA Race Day takes place on May 10th at Leopardstown Racecourse, followed by the IEBA Cork Golf Event on May 20th. Later in the month, the AECI Electrical Trade Show returns to Lucan Spa Hotel on May 27th. On the commercial front, Schneider Electric has introduced ‘Score to Win 26’, a football-themed engagement initiative aimed at electricians and contractors. Meanwhile, Ovia Ireland has unveiled Pitch Finder, a high-performance LED floodlighting solution tailored for professional outdoor sports applications. Distribution specialist Kellihers Electrical is set to host “Kellihers Connected Live 26” on May 28th at its Baldonnell Business Park distribution centre. Positioned as a premium, marquee-style trade event, it will bring together key manufacturers, new technologies and technical expertise, offering attendees a comprehensive day of networking, product discovery and industry insight. Overall, the pace of change across the sector shows little sign of slowing, with innovation and investment continuing to shape the market landscape.
