Industry names like Ei Electronics (the event’s title sponsor), CSGL, Designer Group, CEF, AP Haslam, JV Tierney, Lidacel, REW, Micheal Garry, Robus, Rexel Kellihers, Fisher Paykel, Glen Dimplex, Schneider Electric, NTR plc, and Hager, among many others, were represented. We can report that, so far, the event has raised roughly €30,000 for the IEBA. The funds came from several sources, including corporate sponsorships, participant entry fees, and additional donations raised by sponsors and participants. The collective generosity displayed through these contributions has been inspiring, and the IEBA is incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this achievement possible. The day would not have been possible without the extensive support of Ei Electronics and a host of other dedicated sponsors, who ensured the event ran smoothly from start to finish. Sean Meally and the Ei Electronics team played a central role in organising the event, while other sponsors and supporters On September 20th, the Irish electrical industry gathered for a landmark event: the inaugural “Dash of the Derg.” This cycling event brought together approximately 200 industry professionals who rode the scenic route around Lough Derg to support the Irish Electrical Benevolent Association (IEBA). contributed significant time and resources to make “Dash of the Derg” a success. Thanking the organising team and volunteers The organising team was led by Stephen McManus of Lidacel, Mick Bissett from Hager, Diarmaid McStay of REW, Andrew Clifford from JV Tierney, and Dan Fisher from Core Distribution and Deputy Chairman of the IEBA. Their months of preparation, coordination, and dedication brought the event to life, allowing participants to focus on the day’s cycling and fundraising goals. Volunteers, marshals, and supporters played equally invaluable roles, helping manage the course and ensuring everyone’s safety and enjoyment. A special thanks goes out to Dublin Fire Brigade, Caroline O’Connor and her team at CSGL, Keith Haslam of AP Haslam, Bernard Carroll from Core Distribution, the dedicated staff from EWL and CEF who marshalled and raised additional donations, Colm O’Regan and the Bike Marshalling team, REFILL for providing water stations, and Flanagan’s on the Lake for their support with facilities. Looking Ahead: Dash of the Derg 2025 With the success of this year’s event and €30,000 raised for the IEBA, anticipation is already building for next year’s Dash of the Derg. Further details on the 2025 event will be shared in the coming months on the Irish Electrical Benevolent Association’s website and social media channels.
