If a system can be set up and adjusted quickly on site, that makes a real difference, particularly on projects where there are multiple rooms or zones to deal with. “The app-based configuration also means that changes do not necessarily require complex programming. Sensors, control groups and functions can be arranged and adjusted as required, giving installers a way of making changes during commissioning or later in the building’s operation.” DACO PRO can incorporate DALI push-button modules, while four integrated push-button inputs provide additional options for local control. The system can also accommodate changes after installation. B.E.G. says luminaires can be replaced without affecting the existing configuration, while additional sensors, DALI pushbuttons and relay controls can be incorporated where required. “That is important because the job doesn’t finish when the lights are switched on for the first time,” said Glynn. “Buildings change, rooms change and equipment eventually needs replacing. The control system needs to cope with that without creating unnecessary work.” DACO PRO incorporates daylight and presence-based control, allowing lighting levels to respond to conditions within the space. It also supports Human Centric Lighting (HCL), dim back levels and guided light functions. HCL can be used to adjust lighting in line with the natural progression of the day, while orientation lighting provides a low level of illumination when the main lighting is reduced. This can be useful in spaces where users still need to move around safely without requiring full lighting levels. For education projects, the ability to alter lighting control according to how a room is being used could be particularly relevant. B.E.G. says the system is designed to provide contractors and building operators with a way of adapting lighting control as requirements change, without adding unnecessary infrastructure to the original installation. With DACO PRO, the idea is that you have the control architecture in place to deal with those changes from the outset, rather than having to come back and redesign the system every time the building’s use changes.
