AECI AGM marks retirement of Chris Lundy after distinguished service to the association

After nearly two decades service, Chris has stepped down from his role as Executive Secretary of the Association of Electrical Contractors of Ireland (AECI), marking the end of an important chapter for both the organisation and the wider industry.

Chris brought a wealth of industry experience to the role when he joined the AECI in 2008.  Prior to this, after completing his apprenticeship with CJ Ryder Lawlor Electrical, Chris continued his studies at Kevin Street College of Technology, where he earned a City & Guilds qualification and an Electrical Engineering Technician degree.

After a period of time travelling around Ireland and abroad as a professional musician with various bands, Chris came back to the electrical industry and built up a strong reputation as Managing Director and Joint Partner in Apex Fire Engineers, a company he helped lead from 1981 to May 2008. His entrepreneurial spirit and deep technical understanding of the Fire Detection Systems made him a respected voice across the sector. He was co founder of FESA (Fire Engineering Systems Association).

During his 18 years as Executive Secretary, Chris played a key role in strengthening the AECI. He helped grow it’s membership, organised the association’s  Electrical Trade Show and Golf Outing and provided steady leadership as the organisation navigated complex legal and industry challenges in recent years.

At the recent AECI AGM in Portlaoise, Chris retired from the Executive Council alongside Mattie Ryan and Michael Mangan, both of whom served long periods on Council. Their departures follow the retirement of Dermot McClannon last year, marking a period of significant transition within the Association’s leadership, with Gearoid McKenna now taking up the role of Executive Secretary.

He will remain a member of AECI with his company CLC Fire Alarms and their established brands such as Morley, Apollo, CTec and other associated equipment. He continues working with electrical contractors across the country.

Chris Leaves behind a legacy of commitment, professionalism and tireless support for Ireland’s Electrical Contracting community. His contribution to the AECI  and the industry will be remembered for many years to come.

Chris will be at the AECI Electrical Trade Show on May 27th.
