We look back on the development and growth that has established Reg Farrell Engineering as as a leading distributor to the electrical industry in Ireland.

Founded in 1981 by Mr. Reg Farrell, we look back on the development and growth that has established the company as a leading distributor of high quality branded products, with a reputation and guarantee of expert technical support and training.

Having previously worked as a product manager for ACEC, the Belgium manufacturer of electrical generation equipment, Reg’s inspiration for founding the company came from a meeting where he was asked to evaluate product lines with low turnover. Always the shrewd operator, Reg decided that if certain lines were to be culled then he could probably make a half decent living from them and so was born Reg Farrell Engineering Limited. Reg saw that there was a requirement in Ireland for a distribution business that not only supplied electrotechnical products but would also provide second-to-none technical product support.

From humble beginnings in Little Briton Street through to Harold’s Cross, the company grew rapidly and quickly established itself as a mainline distributor for many of the top European Electrical Brands. In the year 2000 they moved to the current premises in Oak Road Business Park, Dublin 12.

Talking with Reg he said, “over the years with the help of some talented people, Tony Kirk (formerly ACEC), Noel Hegarty (West Cork Electrical Wholesale), Peter Church, sadly prematurely deceased and current MD Ian Checkley we have managed to survive and actually have thrived during many difficult times”.

RFE have established themselves as a leading distributor for both technical and innovating products while also providing reliable and efficient technical support in Ireland. They frequently introduce new additions to their product range and are constantly exploring new electrical safety equipment to address the requirements of modern production and industry.

Ian Checkley, Managing Director says “Key to success is our staff, the dedicated sales team of Stephen Fox (Sales Director) and Sean Behan, supported internally by Gary Ryan, Ciara McEvoy, Niall Leahy and Martin Farrell. Also essential to operations is Antoinette Fennessy our Marketing Manager and Accounts Department Carol Rutherford and Valerie O’ Brien. I would also like to mention our committed Stores Team who guarantee a same day service to the greater Dublin area and next day to the rest of the country” .

In 2020, RFE were appointed as the exclusive distributor for Noark Electric in Ireland. Noark is a subsidiary of the largest electrical manufacturing corporation in Asia. With regional headquarters in Prague , Los Angles and Shanghai and a global workforce of more than 25,000 employees. This product range has so far been incredibly successful in 2021.

The Marketing Department is busy working with the Web Developers to launch a complete online store by Mid 2022. “In the meantime we will continue to update the newly launched website, bringing you the latest products for the electrical industry as well as price promotions for trade customers” said Marketing Manager Antoinette.
