Siemens eMobility team up with Kellihers Electrical in Ireland

Siemens and Kellihers Electrical, part of Rexel Group, have launched the Siemens Versicharge product range across the country. With 24 branches across Ireland, Kellihers Electrical is the largest electrical distributor in the country and is a strategic supplier of Siemens eMobility products in the region.

The announcement takes place as the Irish government aims for 1 million electric vehicles (EVs) on Irish roads by 2030 coupled with a ban on new sales of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles by 2030. This relationship helps create the charging infrastructure required as charging an EV in a private location places different demands on the network than charging on public charging stations.

Owen Murray- Technical Sales Manager: “Electromobility is vital for achieving climate targets and making mobility in Ireland climate-neutral. Kellihers Electrical has a well-established Energy Solutions team in place with a high level of technical knowledge and market expertise which aligns very well with where we want to place Versicharge AC charging systems in the market, ie. targeting commercial/workplace parking, semi-public locations and new build, non-residential sites. The Energy Solutions team at Kellihers Electrical has a proven track record in developing and delivering high value, complex projects making them an ideal trading partner for Siemens eMobility.”

Damien Phillips, Country Manager for Rexel Energy Solutions in Ireland, added: “We are delighted to add the Siemens EV charging range, and particularly VersiCharge, to our offering. Siemens is a strong brand which are committed to the Irish electric vehicle charging market, and have great plans in place to support our installer customers”.

Versicharge

The Siemens VersiCharge portfolio offers options and functions specifically designed for commercial demands: for example, there’s the option to incorporate a modem to connect to cellular networks. VersiCharge provides a scalable charging range up to 22 kW and to save space they can be wall or pole-mounted in locations like parking areas. A feature rich charging station providing both static and dynamic load balancing capabilities when operated on the market leading Fuuse backend charging management platform.

Sicharge D

Other products in the Siemens eMobility portfolio include the award winning  DC high power charger SICHARGE D, with a rating from 160KW up to 300kW, which can reduce charging times to approx. 16 minutes and is extremely intuitive to operate. Recently awarded the prestigious iFDesign Award the functional yet clever hardware engineering and design was officially honored by the iF-jury. The Siemens SiCharge D features a 24″ screen which guides users intuitively through every step of the charging process. All operating elements are arranged logically and satisfy important criteria when it comes to full accessibility. Up to three vehicles can be charged in parallel at two DC fast-charging sockets and one optional AC socket. Using a dispenser, the system can be expanded to have up to 4 fast-charging sockets.

Battery System Siestorage NEO

The integration of charging solutions into an existing infrastructure can quickly exhaust the available grid capacity, this issue is particularly prevalent in Ireland where deploying charging stations at key locations can be problematic due to grid constraint. Expanding the grid capacity, however, is time-consuming and costly, and makes the development of charging infrastructure challenging. Although self-generated energy in the form of wind, solar, biomass or hydro power helps to increase the available electricity of the grid, it is often unpredictable. Therefore, balancing generation and consumption is key and this is where Siemens provide the solution with SieStorage Neo

Allowing high power charging on weak grid connections, storing self-generated energy, balancing peak loads, smart and efficient load management, and power factor correction – these are only some of the key features of SIESTORAGE NEO. The base configuration of the battery storage system provides 184 kW of power, with a capacity of 164 kWh. This can be extended up to 368 kW of power and a capacity of 656 kWh at any point in time, with various options for project specific customisation. SieStorage Neo distinguishes itself with its compact and space-saving design, containing all components in one housing.

Its proven industry components – made in Germany – make it robust against outer influences and thus a reliable system for any location. Its modularity and scalability allow for different storage power, capacity and further set-up options, all specifically tailored to your needs. With Siemens cost-efficient energy storage solution, you can optimise your CAPEX and OPEX by avoiding expensive extension of the grid connection and costly power peaks.
