Leading heat pump manufacturer, STIEBEL ELTRON, has today announced the appointment of John Felgate as its new Managing Director (MD) for the UK and Ireland.

John takes over from the departing Mark McManus, who recently left the organisation after 17 years with the company. John will assume the role on 1st May 2025.

With over 25 years of experience in building services manufacturing, John has an impressive reputation as a commercial and technical expert in the industry, and has been instrumental in launching STIEBEL ELTRON Ireland’s presence in the country’s renewable heating market

John, who previously served as Head of Technical, worked closely with Mark to see STIEBEL ELTRON experience significant growth, expand its product portfolio, and become a driver of the transition to low-carbon heating solutions.

Speaking of John’s appointment, Heinz-Werner Schmidt Managing Director for Sales and Marketing at the Stiebel Eltron Group, said: “John’s appointment means a seamless transition to our new leadership is ensured.

He added: “We expect this to be an exciting year for STIEBEL ELTRON Ireland. With innovative new products to bring to the market, John is charged with maximising growth and market share. With his impressive experience and vision, John stood out to us as the obvious candidate.”

In addition to his role at STIEBEL ELTRON, John has served as Chairman of the Domestic Heat Pump Association and is currently Chairman of the Electric Space and Water Heating group at BEAMA.

Well versed in product development, customer service, sales and marketing, John was awarded the Contribution to Energy Efficiency Award in 2013 by the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Awards and was recognised with the Richard St. Clair Award from BEAMA for his role in developing heat pumps, electric heating and hot water in 2022.

Speaking of his appointment, John Felgate said: “I am delighted to be leading STIEBEL ELTRON into the future. I am fortunate to have the very best team in the industry around me, supporting the highest quality products and working alongside the most skilled installer customers, retail and wholesaler partners. It is a privilege to take on this role, and I am excited by the opportunities and challenges it offers.”
