The Association of Electrical Contractors (Ireland) trade show was back again this year after a two year absence due to COVID. It took place on 31st August at a new venue, the SPA Hotel in Lucan. There was plenty of exhibitors, seminars and prizes. This year the number of electrical contractor’s attending the event seemed particularly high.

The AECI would like to thank all who attended and exhibited at their Electrical Trade Show 2022 in the SPA Hotel in Lucan.

Gerry Geoghegan the AECI president, officially opened the event and spoke about both the opportunities and the responsibilities that we all have to progress this electrical industry in the uncertain years ahead. He thanked the exhibitors for the great support again this year and also of course the many contractors in attendance.

The winner of the “Product of the show award” was Maus Distribution with its Fire Extinguisher for Distribution Boards the Maus Stixx Pro. They say that this is one of the best pieces of fire safety technology in a generation. This amazing product is ideal for confined spaces, including electrical housing, fuse boxes, IT cabinets, refrigerators, camper vans, boats, Yachts and so on. Maus Stixx Pro protects against fires for 5 years. These innovative stickers automatically emit inert gases when they exceed 180 degrees Celsius, smothering fires in enclosed spaces, without the need for human action or manual fire extinguishers.

This year the seminars focussed on EV Charging, New Wiring Rules, Standards on Safety Wear and Protective Clothing. Schneider Electric gave an excellent technical talk on Electrical Fire Hazard Mitigation.

There was also some excellent prizes to be won including some RESI9 boards from Schneider Electrical, Car Chargers from RDCS and Temple Connectivity sponsored a Fluke 378 FC/E Non-Contact Voltage Clamp Meter.

Exhibitors seemed to be very pleased with the customer turnout as well as the interest shown in their products.
