MODULA is a business that prides itself on thinking differently and not adhering to ‘the way things have always been’.  It is an Irish-owned company, founded in 2011 by electrical engineer and CEO Paul Falvey, with a strong culture of innovation.  “The purpose for creating MODULA, and the reason why we exist, is to solve  problems experienced in the electrical industry and to find a better way of working”, says Falvey.

The company has become the market leader in the supply of plug-and-play, modular wiring systems.  These systems are custom designed to suit each specific project and include a series of leads, boxes and pluggable connectors from the main distribution board, right the way through to every power outlet and luminaire.

While the building is being constructed onsite, MODULA assembles the modular wiring system in their Dublin-based, ISO certified factory offsite.  This parallel-processing concept allows for a much faster project turnaround.  Compared to the traditional approach. Modular wiring systems have been proven to deliver other benefits too, not least of which is a potential saving on labour of up to 75%.

To complement their modular wiring systems, MODULA offers a complete range of busbar trunking, floor-boxes and desk module units.  They partner with a number of European manufacturers, to offer a comprehensive range of lighting, and are distributors for Helvar lighting control systems. They can supply all these products as part of a modular wiring system, complete with pluggable leads and connectors, or as standard hard-wired versions.  If preferred, all can be backed up by qualified engineering advice and onsite support.

MODULA is an Engineer’s Ireland registered training provider.  It is currently offering a free continuous professional development (CPD) course on modular wiring systems to consulting engineer practices and electrical contractors nationwide. They plan to add further CPD courses, in lighting and lighting controls, throughout 2021.

It is refreshing to see companies looking to bring positive change to the industry.  In that context, MODULA is certainly one to watch.
