Focus on product quality for garden lighting

We use lighting for many reasons, but one that’s increasingly popular is for the outdoors. Des Duignan, Aurora Lighting’s Managing Director of Ireland, reveals Aurora’s research into garden lighting and its findings when creating new products for exteriors.

When it comes to creating stunning gardens and exterior settings, it can be difficult knowing where to start looking for the right products to suit the ideas. We’re now in the heart of the summer months when many looks at their gardens or exteriors to determine whether they should be enhanced slightly or landscaped completely differently.

Having done our research, we realise that the essentials for outdoor lighting are fixture performance and quality, as outdoor conditions can be harsh and require extra protection. Clients want lighting that lasts more than one summer.

Therefore, when looking for new solutions, it’s not just the lumens per watt that need to be considered but the type of material, its durability and coatings, and installation design.

Lighting the exterior of a property falls into the same three categories as internal schemes. The ‘ambient’ lighting function is to provide light to the space to an accepted level. ‘Accent’ lighting highlights certain features and/ or attributes. ‘Task’ lighting illuminates specific areas so users can see what they, or others, are doing.

Products in our WallE™ range, for example, are ideal accent decorative LED wall lights that suit commercial and domestic applications. They are ideal for creating a soft appearance on properties as the sun goes down. They come in aluminium, polycarbonate and stainless-steel materials, and provide a wide range of lumens per watt.

Also designed for exteriors is the G-Lite™Pro, a range of professional in-ground GU10 and integrated LED fixtures that have superior levels of construction, loop in loop out capability and 316 stainless steel bezel options to enhance both the design and durability of any exterior lighting design.

One increasingly popular accent external lighting choice is LED strip. It’s ideal and flexible enough to be used in a variety of ways, from highlighting garden steps, pathways, patios and swimming pools. We’ve introduced the LEDline™Pro, which off errs a variety of high quality LED strips in single colour or RGB, RGBW and IP rated up to IP67 in either 12V or 24V.

Specifically for Trade we have launched a brand-new catalogue, ‘Edition One’, that comprises a large LED range catered to multiple applications. Included is our new and improved outdoor range. This catalogue features our most advanced LED and smart solutions at extremely competitive prices.

Available in over 10 countries worldwide, Enlite is now the “go to range of choice” for both electricians and wholesalers alike. The new EDITION ONE catalogue can be viewed at enlitelighting.com.
