This award is given by the National Standards Authority of Ireland, in recognition of exceptional dedication to standards development.
Each year on 14th of October, members of IEC, ISO and ITU celebrate World Standards Day. This is a means of paying tribute to the collaborative efforts of the thousands of experts worldwide that develop the voluntary technical agreements that are published as International Standards.
This year Joe Walsh of Siemens received the NSAI 1997 special recognition award. Joe chairs the NSAI TC16 WG2 – “Fire Alarms Working Group”. This group is responsible for the maintenance of I.S.3218. Joe has been involved in Standards since 2010 and has managed the task of transitioning from ”old thinking” to modernisation exceptionally well.
On receiving the award Joe says “In Siemens, we believe in always acting in a responsible and sustainable way. That’s the reason we have been involved in many of Ireland’s major infrastructure projects since 1925. It is also the reason why Siemens is happy to support the role of NSAI in developing solid standards throughout Irish industry”.
