Luke Killeen, Hager Ireland’s newly appointed Sales Engineer, is ready to take the reins, blending years of technical expertise with a passion for customer relationships. Having joined Hager in 2015, Luke has built a career across multiple roles, from customer service to technical management, before making the transition to sales.

Starting out as a Customer service and technical support executive after returning from Australia, Luke quickly found his footing by engaging with key industry players such as wholesalers and engineers. Learning from the best, including former Head of Technical, Tom Weafer, and completing his degree in electrical engineering, Luke soon moved into the role of Technical and Market Manager. It was here that his enthusiasm for sales began to grow, as he supported the sales team by offering technical solutions that directly addressed customers’ needs.

“My journey from electrician to engineer, and now into sales, has given me a well-rounded view of the challenges our customers face. That experience enables me to offer valuable solutions that go beyond the basics,” Luke explains. “I’m excited to build relationships and grow the Hager brand with a deep understanding of the technical and human side of the business.”

Luke also highlights the importance of communication in sales, noting that success comes from truly listening to customers, understanding their goals, and working together to find the right solutions. It’s an approach shaped by his years of hands-on experience, both in the field and behind the scenes.

Despite the demands of his role, Luke is passionate about maintaining a healthy work-life balance. With two young children keeping him busy outside of work, he emphasises the importance of being able to switch off outside of business hours, taking a mental break in the evenings and on weekends to help stay focused and energised for the challenges and solutions that lie ahead.

Kevin Curran, Head of Sales, commented, “We’re delighted to have Luke join the external sales team. Whenever possible, we believe in promoting from within”.

Looking forward, Luke is excited to strengthen relationships with Hager’s existing customer base and identifying new opportunities for growth. While Hager has long had a strong presence in the domestic /commercial sectors, Luke sees significant potential in the commercial market, particularly with some fabulous new product launches on the horizon.

In the coming years, Luke envisions Hager continuing its market leadership, providing innovative solutions across the electrical industry. He hopes to play a key role in that journey, becoming a trusted partner to wholesalers, contractors, and engineers alike. “I can’t wait to get started,” he says, with an unmistakable sense of enthusiasm for new opportunities and partnerships.
