Crescent Communications has been a dominant player in the Data Centre Market for over 15 years. So much so that people began to look at Crescent as a Data Centre Specialist and not a Structured Cabling Installer. With this in mind, the directors made the decision to appoint Niall Collins in a Business Development Capacity to grow this side of the business in June 2018.
Niall Collins has been in the Structured Cabling Industry for over 25 years and has a wealth of knowledge and contacts within the industry. He started his career working in installations before moving into Sales Roles and then Management Roles in Distribution.
Since coming on board. Niall has been successful in winning projects in Commercial, Education, Health and Financial sectors. Crescent have also secured Framework Agreements/Maintenance Contracts in the Financial and Semi State Sectors.
“When the opportunity came up to take a position with Crescent, it was an easy decision for me to make. I have had a good working relationship with the Directors and Managers of Crescent for over 15 years, so I was sure that this was the right move for me.
We set out key goals of rebranding and rebuilding the Structured Cabling side of the business and reestablishing Crescent as one of the dominant Data Installers within the industry. This was helped by the relationships that Crescent have had over the years with all the major manufactures in the Country, such as Commscope and Leviton.

Working with best in class manufactures and solutions, gives us an edge on our competition. This gives our customers the reassurance that the solutions we are offering all come with 25-year System Warranty.
We have restructured our teams of technicians and separated them into Data Centre teams and Structured Cabling teams. While there is still some crossover, it has meant that both teams can work independently of one another led by different Contracts Managers. By mid-2020 we expect to double the number of technicians in just under 2 years.
Colm Stynes CDCDP manages our Data Centre Teams and John Doyle manages the Structured Cabling teams. Both of whom have been with Crescent for over 20 years and their experience and expertise are vital for the continued development of the company.
We have also arranged a number of Technical Updates for Consultants and End Users with our manufacturing partners, to keep our clients up to date on all current and new developments in the telecommunications market. These may include New Product Development, Standards and CPR classifications.
In 2020, our objective is to continue offering this as part of our service. This gives our customers the added security that they are getting a best in class solution from a Systems Integrator with a strong affiliation to the manufacturer.
We are also implementing new training programmes with our technicians so that while they will always get Vendor specific training, they will also complete Btec Copper and Fibre modules (Vendor Neutral Training).
This means that they will be comfortable in all different environments with different manufacturers components. We are delighted that the team have really taken this on board and some of the technicians have taken it upon themselves to complete further online courses in their own time. I think this speaks volumes of the culture that we are implementing. “
