Congratulations to Kellihers Electrical Ballymount, winner of the prestigious AEW Wholesaler of the Year at the 2025 EIFI (Electrical Industries Federation of Ireland) Awards — recognition of the branch’s outstanding performance, excellent customer service, incredible staff and continued innovation.

The award was presented at the EIFI Awards luncheon in the Cusack & Ash Suite at Croke Park on 19th September, hosted by RTÉ’s Marty Morrissey.  Branch Manager Barry Dunne accepted the award on behalf of the Ballymount team. “Needless to say, we are absolutely delighted to win it,” he added. “This win is down to our team — many long‑serving colleagues who bring vital product knowledge and a real commitment to customers. From the back office to the trade counter, everyone plays a part.”

Since opening in 1997, Kellihers Electrical Ballymount has grown into one of Kellihers’ flagship branches. The branch has continuously evolved to meet customer needs, investing in a refurbished trade counter and sales office, a dedicated pre‑order collection counter and a 24/7 secure collection point for time‑sensitive orders. These improvements are designed to make the customers’ jobs easier and reduce downtime on site. Barry continues: “As a branch and as a company, we are constantly growing year on year. We’ve always been ahead of the curve when it comes to market trends and specialist areas. For example, about ten years ago, we had the foresight to set up a renewables division and that has been going from strength to strength.”

Kellihers Electrical operates 23 branches across the Republic of Ireland and is backed by the global Rexel Group, which acquired Kellihers Electrical in 2006. The Rexel Group’s network of almost 2,000 branches in 21 countries strengthens buying power and supply‑chain resilience — advantages that benefit customers at Ballymount every day. The branch’s operations receive further support from their 100,000 sq. ft national distribution centre in Baldonnell, which has significantly improved stock availability and delivery speeds across the network and underpins faster fulfilment for trade customers.

Customer service remains central to Ballymount’s success. Barry Dunne highlights the branch’s culture of internal promotion and long staff tenure as vital to maintaining deep product knowledge within the branch. “We put the customer first — always,” he says. “Our team understands the pressures our customers face and deliver practical solutions quickly.” This blend of experienced staff, reliable stock and responsive service is why many contractors return to Ballymount time and time again.

Looking ahead, Ballymount isn’t resting on its laurels. The branch continues to invest to stay responsive to market trends and customer needs. Barry Dunne describes the award as a milestone rather than a finish line: “The market is moving fast. We’re constantly looking at ways to improve our service and strengthen our place as market leaders.”

As EIFI’s 2025 Wholesaler of the Year, Kellihers Ballymount sets the standard for professionalism and service in Ireland’s electrical wholesale sector, combining practical trade support with a forward-looking, customer-centric approach. The industry will be watching with interest to see what comes next.
