ECS Launching Soon: A New Era for Certification with Safe Electric

-

- Advertisment -

Safe Electric, the statutory regulatory scheme for electrical contractors in the Republic of Ireland and responsible for ensuring that Registered Electrical Contractors (RECs) adhere to national safety standards and technical rules, will launch the new Electronic Certification System (ECS) soon.

This marks a significant advancement in how RECs can manage and issue certificates. ECS will replace the current ECC system and the paper system, following a transition period, offering a more efficient, secure and user-friendly platform. In the new system all documents will be prepared by the Qualified Certifier (QC) and validated by the RECs Principal Duty Holder (PDH).

Key Benefits for RECs:

Secure, Self-Service Payment Platform: ECS features a fully automated, PCI-compliant payment system. Users can access their complete transaction history and download receipts at any time.

Simplified Access: Login credentials are directly linked to the email address used in the scheme application, ensuring seamless and secure system access.

Comprehensive Dashboard: The dashboard provides access to the full suite of certificates, notices of hazard, and periodic inspection reports with intuitive search and filter functions.

Faster Certificate Generation: Modernised, streamlined forms enable quicker and more intuitive creation of certificates.

Integration with Scheme Information Management System (SIMS): ECS is directly connected to the Safe Electric SIMS database, enabling faster validation and removing the need for paper certificates.

Centralised Document Storage: Documents such as test record sheets and notices of hazard are securely stored and readily available, simplifying preparation for annual inspections.

Compliance Management: Insurance and QC expiry dates are prominently displayed within the dashboard, supporting ongoing regulatory compliance.

Employee Management: Contractors can efficiently manage the registration of QCs within the system, with the ability to add or remove individuals from their account as needed.

New certificate formats have been designed in compliance with chapter 6 of I.S. 10101.

Safe Electric will provide comprehensive training and support materials ahead of the ECS launch to ensure a smooth transition. RECs are encouraged to stay informed through Safe Electric’s official website and email communications as the launch approaches.
